A Winter Engagement Session

Meghan & Josiah’s winter engagement session renewed our love of shooting while the earth is fast asleep. Having gotten engaged only the week before, they took advantage of the brief respite from chilly weather to venture outside and bask in the golden winter light. And bask they did! We had so much fun wandering around the bluffs and creeks of Missouri. While the landscape may have been bleak, it lent a beautifully neutral palette from which Meghan and Josiah’s love was on full display. The water levels are low this time of year and we took full advantage of this while we walked along the creek beds and admired the beautiful bluffs. Those bluffs might just be our favorite thing about our hometown. Not to mention the winter light that was the perfect addition to their session!

Joining in the fun were Meghan and Josiah’s dogs, Rogue and Mattis. We had so many laughs while chasing these two down for photos as they were more interested in running through the tall grasses than posing for photos. The pups have such unique personalities and Meghan and Josiah’s engagement session would not have been complete without them! In charge of them were two of Meghan and Josiah’s dear friends who lent such a helping hand with the shoot. We always recommend having friends come along to help wrangle the dogs if possible – it makes such a difference! They can also add a great deal of comic relief when it comes time to get the dogs to look at the camera!
