Capturing the Bedford Family Maternity Session in the Garden Studio

There’s something incredibly special about documenting life’s most precious moments for families. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the Bedford family on multiple occasions. This time, we gathered in my Garden Studio to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their baby boy with a family maternity session. He is expected to make his debut in November and we can’t wait to meet him!

The Garden Studio, with its blend of indoor elegance and outdoor charm, provided the perfect setting for this family maternity session. The Bedfords chose a wardrobe palette that was simply stunning—soft creams, lush greens, and pops of coral. The combination of these colors with the serene backdrop of the studio created a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere.  Therefore, it was just perfect for this special moment.

Returning to Film

In addition to the magic, I shot half of this family maternity session on medium format film. There’s a timeless quality to film that digital simply can’t replicate. It adds an extra layer of softness and depth to the images. The way the light danced through the garden and gently caressed their faces was captured so beautifully on film, creating images that the Bedfords will treasure for generations.

Photographing the Bedfords always feels like spending time with old friends, and this session was no different. There was a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation as they prepare to welcome their little boy into the world. The connection they share is evident in every frame, and I’m so grateful to have captured these moments for them.

In conclusion, this family maternity session in the Garden Studio was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. Creating images that tell a family’s story, especially during such a meaningful time in their lives, is a true honor. I can’t wait to see the Bedfords again, this time with their newest addition, and to continue documenting their journey as a family.
