A Beautiful Return to the Doster Family Story

Golden sunset family photos in Columbia, Missouri hold a special kind of magic, and this session with the Doster family was no exception. There is something incredibly special about welcoming couples back in front of my camera as they step into new seasons of life. I photographed the Doster wedding two years ago, and seeing them again with their baby boy, Scotty, felt like the sweetest full circle moment. Photographing past couples as they grow their families is one of my favorite parts of this work, and it is an honor I never take lightly.

We met on one of those perfect Columbia evenings when the sun drops low and the entire landscape glows. The trees were warm with fall color, the light filtered through every branch, and Scotty was all smiles from the very beginning. The golden hour could not have been dreamier, and this soft, warm light created the perfect backdrop for their family photos.

A Beautiful Return to the Doster Family Story

I love watching the way new parents instinctively settle into their roles. The way he kicks his little feet when his dad lifts him into the air. The way his mom laughs when he grabs her cheeks. The way they look at one another with the quiet understanding that life has changed in the best possible way. These are the moments I want families to remember years from now, long after this season has passed.

The Dosters were relaxed and joyful as they walked through the field together, snuggled on a blanket under the oak trees, and soaked in every bit of that golden sunset. Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. Being invited back to document these milestones means the world, and I feel lucky to continue telling their story.
